Cocoa
From Humble Beginnings
Studio Thirteen began life in 2006 in Cape Canaveral as a small hole in the wall tattoo studio owned by the late Jim Journey. Before passing away, Jim sold the studio to a young upcoming artist named Zakk Ross, who had not yet learned to tattoo, and was fortunate enough to inherit Leif McHatton as the working artist at the studio during that time.
After years of struggling, a move to another Cape Canaveral studio, and finally a move to Cocoa Beach, Zakk and Leif found a home with a much larger crew in the original flagship location in the heart of Cocoa Beach near Ron Jon’s. This location served as the headquarters for countless tattoos going out to the greater Central Florida area, housing some of the world’s greatest tattoo artists during that time.
After continuing to grow, it was time to give the old Flagship a face lift, and a new location was sought in Cocoa Village, overlooking the river there. This location sports unfinished beam ceilings, an authentic historic look and feel, and some of the best amenities available in the tattoo industry. So come pay us a visit, but before you do, check out some of the amazing work by our resident artists there.
